Then keep the curious mind well fed with one of Burford Festival’s key talks: Judith Hann – A woman in science. One event, back by popular demand, is the charity fashion show (20 June) showcasing styled looks courtesy of Blue Cross, Helen & Douglas House and Sue Ryder – all looks can be bought on the day. The Witney Music Festival (12– 13 June) is celebrating its 20th anniversary. There’s a jam-packed line-up with special guests The Zoots. Tickets from £20.05, kids under 14 go free. If you’re up for a laugh, don’t miss their comedy night on 11 June, too.

15 June sees the opening of the Million Dollar Quartet at the Barn Theatre, Cirencester. Be transported back to 4 December 1956, when (legends) Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley were brought together for a chance jam session in Memphis, that would shape rock ‘n’ roll music forever. The Cheltenham Food & Drink Festival returns on 19–21 June. Meet some of the UK’s most exciting chefs. Free talks, demonstrations and a cheese and wine masterclass make for a totally scrumptious weekend. Tickets from £10.

On 20 June, head to glorious Guiting Power Fete and Fun Dog Show. BBQ, bar, stalls, live music and a grand prize for the pooch of the day, from 12–4.

Don’t forget it’s Father’s Day on 21 June. If your dad is into cars, get him to the Cirencester car show, 10–4. A free event and all proceeds going to Cirencester Hospital League of Friends, a charity supporting our local hospital, whose current goal is to raise money for specialist emergency lifting equipment to help those who have fallen get back on their feet.

On 26 June, The London Festival Opera are returning to Northleach for their third year, performing a selection of well-known arias and ensembles. Church of St Peter & St Paul, 1930–2130, tickets from £20.

The 28th annual Charlbury Beer Festival will be taking place on 27 June at Charlbury Cricket Club (12–9pm). A celebration of great beer, live music, food, and fun for the whole family. The festival, run entirely by volunteers, raises money for good causes locally and beyond. Expect around 60 cask ales, 20+ craft beers, ciders, perries, wine, gin and Pimm’s. The Culture Club tent hosts performances and talks, plus the legendary Aunt Sally World Championship. Starting at 12 noon, tickets from £9. See you there.
