Because we’re all about sharing and caring, on Saturday 2nd May, get yourself to trade secret FURNSIHHH, Bourton-on-the-Water for their open warehouse furniture sale, peruse a shop a collection of beautiful homewares from some of the UK’s most respected brands at quite unbelievable prices…maybe take a van.
The annual extravaganza that is the Badminton Horse Trials runs from the 6th – 10th May at the historic Badminton Estate. Organise your tickets before you go and prepare for the very best in dressage, show-jumping punctuated with some fabulous food, drink and shopping across 5 action-packed days.
From Monday 4th through to Saturday 9th May, head to the Cidermill Theatre, Chipping Campden to immerse yourself in the annual Literary Festival, with inspiring and insightful talks and seminars from a selection of revered authors and poets. Listings and tickets here.
For one week from Sunday 9th May, the iconic Burford Garden Centre are hosting a selection of artists in collaboration with Artweeks, the county’s largest Art festival. Meet a different artist every day of the week as they showcase their skills and talk through their inspiration, methods and ideas. Find the full list of artists here.
Feeling energetic? Fancy a challenge? Then nab yourself a place in the 11th Maverick Cotswolds Trail. Starting at Sudeley castle – prepare yourself for undulating terrain, and breath taking scenery. Walk, power hike or run, choose from a 7k-50k trail. HELLO endorphins. All details and entry, here.
If you’re up for some learning and self-improvement this month then head to Cowley Manor on the 24th May for the Fundamental Wim Hof Retreat, where you’ll be taught the techniques to build unbreakable mental and physical resilience through breath work, cold water exposure and mindset techniques. The class will have up to 30 guests and personalised instructor support, tickets are £110pp. Book your spot here.

On the 24th May, head over to the square, Stow-on-the-Wold for a celebratory Medieval event, you’ll find market stalls, music and dancing from 2-8pm.
On the 25th May, be part of a weird and wonderful centuries-old tradition. Head to Cooper’s Hill, Brockworth for 12pm to witness Cheese-Rolling first hand. Watch about 25 participants at a time race down the near vertical 200-yard slope chasing a 7-9 lb wheel of Double Gloucester Cheese that can reach speeds of 70mph. You’ve got to see it to believe it.
Winner of the Family Festival of the year, the Wychwood Festival, Cheltenham runs from 29th-31st May. Live music, activities and workshops for all ages with the option to camp and glamp. Get your tickets here, kids under 10 go free.
DAY TRIP
May is the month for the most iconic flower show on earth. The RHS Chelsea Flower show. If you’re after some inspiration or an utterly memorable day out this is the place to head between the 19th – 23rd May. Get to SW3 easily. Trains from Moreton-in-Marsh run almost on the hour to Paddington (1hour 20 minutes), then hop on the Circle line to Sloane Square (13 minutes).

On Friday 12th June The Outdoor Cinema club comes to Dowty Sports Club, Cheltenham, showing Beauty and the Beast at 5pm and Mamma Mia at 8pm. Get your tickets now to avoid disappointment.
